Debonair Glass Studio

Debbie & Ian welcome you to our art glass studio. We create unique stained glass and fused glass art for you to own and enjoy - windows, wall art or freestanding sculptures. Commissions taken.

We run a couple of different workshops, come and have fun whilst making something beautiful.

Our workshops generally run everyday except for Sundays, they are suitable from the age of 12. We can take groups of up to 4 people (currently minimum of 2). Bookings can be made through email, phone or in the workshop

Fused glass workshops last 2 to 2 1/2 hours and costs start from £35, during this time you could make such item as a plaque, suncatchers, jewelry or a design of your choice. There is a limit to the amount of glass included in the workshop fee but if you wish to make a larger piece you can simply purchase more glass. We can mount your piece on driftwood for a small fee, other options also available. The glass has to go in a kiln overnight and if there is cold work needed (holes, mounted on driftwood) not ready to collect until 48 hours after workshop (postage available, costs vary depending on size). Fused glass is suitable for ages 12+

Tiffany glass is a form of glass work invented by Louis Comfort Tiffany, it is also known as copper foil glass. The technique involves wrapping the edge of the glass in copper foil which then allows it to be soldered together to create a design.

In our Tiffany glass workshops you will learn glass cutting, how to copper foil and how to solder the piece together. We have a few small panel designs for you to choose from. Tiffany glass workshops costs £60.00 per person for 2 to 3 hours and are suitable for ages 14+ (booking of minimum of 2 people).

This one-day class will introduce you to the basics of glass tack fusing and you'll make your own coloured 28cm high lantern!

One-day glass fusing beginners lantern class for up to 5 people

The class begins with a discussion of the concept of glass tack fusing (sometimes called contour fusing), discussing common issues and a review of the materials you'll use.

You may like to come up with some basic design ideas, or we can help you on the day.
There'll be a wide range of glass frit, glass noodles and enamel pens for you to create your lantern glass panels from.

You'll be creating 4 decorated glass panels to replace the plain glass supplied with the lantern.
The glass panels will be fused as a single layer of fusible glass at around 750 deg.C, retaining the texture of the frit and other glass materials you use to make your design.

As the panels for your lantern need to be kiln-fired overnight and allowed to cool slowly, we'll contact you when fired so you can collect. We'll show you how to assemble the glass panels in to the lantern.

Your lantern is suitable for use with a block candle, a tealight or battery-operated nightlight.

Tack fusing is fast becoming a popular art form and this class will give you an inspiring introduction to the exciting world of fused glass!

The course cost of £149 per person includes:

  • All glass frit and materials and your lantern

  • Use of tools and protective gear

  • Refreshments during the day and lunch from the onsite cafe

  • maximum class size 5 people

  • Your lantern to take home once fired

  • Class runs from 10-30 to (approx) 5pm
